Pharmacy Technician Externship Coordinator

Must reside in Texas

Summary Coordinate and oversee the Pharmacy Technician externship program by developing and maintaining externship partnerships, supporting student success through site visits, mentoring, tutoring, and career readiness, managing externship documentation and online coursework, and collaborating with employers and internal teams to facilitate successful program completion and employment opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Secure and manage a comprehensive network of externship sites for Pharmacy Technician students, ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards.
  • Obtain new affiliations in the different geographical areas where students reside.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate student performance, address concerns, and strengthen relationships with externship partners.
  • Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to facilitate the transition of externs into full-time employment opportunities.
  • Provide guidance to students on attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during their externship experiences.
  • Conduct externship orientations and offer support with resume writing, interview preparation, and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements with externship sites.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring completion of final evaluations and exit interviews.
  • Teach and manage the online externship course.
  • Tutor student's one-on-one who are at risk of not passing board exam.

Education Associates Degree

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting.
  • At least 1 year of experience coordinating externships, clinical placements, workforce development programs, or student training initiatives in an educational or healthcare environment.
  • Previous teaching, instructional, or training experience in pharmacy technician education, allied health, or adult learning preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and community organizations.
  • Experience conducting site visits, monitoring student performance, and resolving issues with students and externship partners.
  • Proficiency in curriculum delivery, learning management systems (LMS), and maintaining accurate student and compliance documentation.
