Astraeus Operations (AO) is an SBA-certified 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business (SBD) subsidiary of the Chenega Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC). We are a small business with large business capabilities due to our shared-services Program Management Office (PMO) structure. Through our ISO 9001:2015 certification, we can accomplish the full range of contract services including financial, human capital, recruiting, procurement, security, and technical resources to achieve contract mission requirements. As a result, our ‘small business – big capability’ dynamic benefits our clients through consistent communications and straight-lined workflows, ensuring our accountability to our clients for successful mission fulfillment. 

In plain terms, our clients gain a team that’s on the same page to achieve and support the client’s mission. We vigorously respond to clients’ requests without additional costs, delays, or inefficiencies that are often experienced with larger, more cumbersome organizations. AO is eligible for sole source, direct awards up to $100M for DOD and up to $25M for other federal agencies, without J&A. Astraeus is the easy button for a client wishing to take advantage of the rapid, agile, and flexible sole source procurement option. Combined with the shared PMO services, Astraeus offers highly competitive labor rates to fulfill day-to-day contract operations. 

The Intermediate Systems Administrator provides comprehensive support for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of classified and unclassified systems supporting SWFLANT and SWSNET operations. This position is responsible for ensuring system availability, security compliance, and reliable performance in alignment with DoD, DON, and SSP directives.


Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and associated networked systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Implement system updates, patches, and security hardening in accordance with DoD STIGs, IAVMs, and Navy cybersecurity requirements.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, taking corrective actions as necessary to maintain service levels.
  • Perform system backups, restoration, and continuity of operations planning to safeguard mission-critical data.
  • Maintain baseline system configurations and documentation to ensure compliance with RMF/IA controls.
  • Create and manage user accounts, groups, and access permissions in accordance with security directives.
  • Coordinate with Information Assurance personnel to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support the installation and configuration of new hardware, software, and peripheral components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier II/III technical issues escalated from the Help Desk.
  • Participate in Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and implement approved system changes.
  • Assist in planning and implementing system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives to support evolving mission requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related technology field OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 4+ years of system administration-related work experience.
  • Must meet DoD Cyber Workforce (CWF) requirements:
    • At a minimum level of IAT II, Per DoD 8570.01-M Work Role: DCWF Code 451, Proficiency Level: Intermediate, per DoD Directive 8140.01 and SECNAV M-5239.2.
    • Must maintain required computing environment/operating system certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, VMware)
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise system administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi) and storage area networks (SANs).
  • Working knowledge of Linux-based systems administration (preferred).
  • Experience with DoD system hardening standards, RMF compliance, and DISA STIGs.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting complex systems, applications, and network issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under time constraints in a mission-critical environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel if required
