A Workers Compensation Trainee is an entry-level position in the insurance or risk management industry, where individuals learn the fundamentals of workers' compensation claims. Trainees are typically responsible for assisting in claim investigations, reviewing medical reports, and understanding state regulations. They work under the supervision of experienced adjusters or managers to develop the skills needed to assess workplace injuries and determine appropriate benefits. This role provides hands-on training to prepare employees for more advanced positions in claims handling.

What does a workers compensation trainee do?

As a Workers Compensation Trainee, your day usually involves supporting experienced adjusters by reviewing claim documentation, assisting with data entry, and helping to gather information from employees, employers, and healthcare providers. You will often communicate with claimants to answer basic questions, update records, and help initiate or follow up on claims. Team collaboration is important, as you'll regularly work alongside adjusters, supervisors, and sometimes legal or medical professionals, gaining exposure to the full claims process. This role is structured to provide mentorship and on-the-job learning to prepare you for more complex case management responsibilities as you develop your expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the workers compensation trainee position, and why are they important?

  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our San Francisco, CA office located at 44 Montgomery Street, Suite 4250 San Francisco, CA 94104.
