Orange County, CA law firm seeking an experienced full time Workers Compensation Defense Attorney
A well-respected and growing law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience to join its California practice. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation, verbal, and writing skills and be in good standing with the California Bar Association. This role offers the opportunity to handle a variety of workers' compensation matters while working with a diverse client base, including insurance companies, third-party administrators, and employer representatives.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of litigation experience, preferably in workers' compensation defense.
Active membership and good standing with the California Bar Association.
Strong knowledge of workers' compensation law; ability to identify issues across other legal areas a plus.
Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Effective time management and organizational abilities to manage a busy caseload.
Demonstrated judgment and problem-solving skills.
Technologically proficient and comfortable with case management systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Defend workers' compensation claims for benefits, including medical, disability, impairment, and increased benefits under LC 132a.
Litigate issues involving coverage and employment defenses.
Manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, trials, arbitrations, liens, and settlement negotiations.
Prepare pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents in response to claims.
Appear at hearings before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
Conduct case evaluations, develop case strategies, and recommend plans of action.
Perform legal research and provide analysis to support case preparation.
Communicate with clients regularly regarding case status, updates, and strategy.
Handle administrative duties associated with case management.
