Job Title: Workday HRMS Lead
Duration – 12 months (Probability of extension)

Summary:

Workday HRMS Lead plays a key leadership role in enhancing the Client’s Workday Human Resource Management System (HRMS).  This position is responsible for leading the design, configuration, optimization, and support of Workday, ensuring alignment with statewide HR business requirements, policies, collective bargaining agreements, and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical and functional lead for Workday HRMS modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll, Talent, etc.).
  • Participates with HR Product Owners, agency leadership, and IT stakeholders to define and document detailed requirements for each backlog item.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Scrum Master, including progress, risks, and blockers.
  • Collaborate closely with configuration analysts to ensure business requirements are accurately translated into Workday configurations.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for the PRISM team and business partners, providing clear direction and timely resolution of questions or uncertainties related to in-progress enhancements.
  • Work with business partners to define User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy, scenarios, and success criteria.
  • Identify and coordinate the development of training materials, job aids, and/or standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Participates in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Translate business requirements into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure backlog items are consistently updated to reflect status, progress, and changes throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support release planning across sprints, including coordination with Workday bi-annual releases and productions deployments.
  • Promote the adoption of Workday best practices and delivered functionality to maximize system value and reduce customization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday certifications (e.g., HCM, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll).
  • 4+ years’ experience supporting statewide or enterprise HRMS platforms.
  • 4+ years’ experience with Agile or hybrid SDLC methodologies.
