What We're Looking For
This role is critical to Cross River and will report to the AVP, Workday HR under the Head of Enterprise Systems. We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Associate, Workday HR to support the configuration, optimization, and ongoing operation of our Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform, including integrations with internal and external systems.
As a key member of the Workday technology team, this role is responsible for aligning Workday capabilities with HR business goals, ensuring a scalable, secure, and efficient HR technology ecosystem that supports regulatory compliance and industry best practices in a financial services environment.
Responsibilities:
Workday Configuration & Functional Support
  • Support configuration and enhancements across all HCM modules, including Core HCM, Talent, Advanced Compensation, Absence, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, and People Analytics.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of the Workday platform aligned with HR, Finance, and broader business objectives.
  • Support the design and enhancement of Workday solutions, including new module rollouts, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Support the application of architectural standards, best practices, and governance procedures.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Workday configurations and technical solutions.

Enhancements, Releases & Operations
  • Support ongoing system enhancements, including testing, validation, and deployment of configuration changes.
  • Conduct impact analysis and regression testing for Workday updates and releases.
  • Support system updates, including planning, coordination of downtime, backups, and deployment activities.
  • Execute day-to-day operational tasks to maintain a high-performing and stable Workday environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve Workday, Operations, and ERP-related issues.

Reporting, Integrations, Automation & Optimization
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize HR reporting and analytics, including custom reports, dashboards, and analytics to support internal stakeholders.
  • Support integrations between Workday and external systems, including HR and Benefits providers, ATS platforms (e.g., Greenhouse), and financial systems (EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio)
  • Identify and recommend automation and optimization opportunities across HR and Finance processes.

Security, Compliance & Controls
  • Support the administration of Workday security roles and access, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ensure solutions meet data privacy, SOX, SOC, GDPA, and FFIEC requirements relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit activities as needed.

Stakeholder Partnership & Enablement
  • Collaborate with HR business partners, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and IT stakeholders to deliver integrated, business-aligned solutions.
  • Work with external vendors, consultants, and Workday partners to manage deliverables and timelines.
  • Provide platform support and help build user capability and adoption across the organization.
  • Support and contribute to user training programs, enabling colleagues to effectively use and support the platform.
  • Document system configurations, processes, development requirements, and changes thoroughly.
  • Provide technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR technology, including 3+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience.
  • Strong understanding of HR and/or Finance business processes, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Experience debugging Workday integrations utilizing Workday Studio, EIBs, and Report Writer.
  • Workday certifications in HCM, Finance, or related modules (Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Time Tracking, etc.) preferred.
  • Familiarity with SOC, SOX, GDPR, and FFIEC regulatory standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project management experience using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Prior experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst capturing, analyzing, and translating business requirements.
  • Ability to respond flexibly to ad-hoc business needs.
  • Knowledge of reporting architecture; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Visio, Excel, and basic SQL is advantageous.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
