Job description

The Workday Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting integrations across Sidley's global Workday HCM ecosystem. This role ensures the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable integrations between Workday and both internal and external systems, either independently or in collaboration with AMS. The position requires strong expertise in Workday integration technologies and close collaboration with stakeholders - functional, technical and AMS.

  • Design, build, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance Workday integrations using:

    • Workday Studio

    • Workday Orchestrate

    • Core Connectors

    • EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder)

    • RaaS (Reports-as-a-Service)

    • Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs)

    • Document Transformation (XSLT)

  • Own end-to-end delivery of integrations, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Works independently to maintain and monitor existing integrations to ensure they are functioning as expected, proactively identifying and resolving errors, failures, and performance issues.

  • Performs complex root cause analysis to resolve failed integrations, working TPOs. Business Owners, 3rd party vendors IT and with Application Managed Service (AMS).

  • Perform integration updates, enhancements, and modifications as business requirements evolve.

  • Troubleshoot integration issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutions to minimize business disruption.

  • Collaborate with HR, IT, Data Warehouse, Data and AI and external vendors to gather and translate business requirements into technical integration specifications.

  • Responsible for support of payroll-related integrations, including Cloud Connect and other third-party payroll interfaces, ensuring data integrity and compliance.

  • Maintain technical documentation including integration design documents, mapping specifications, and support procedures.

  • Participate in Workday biannual releases, performing impact analysis, regression testing, and necessary integration updates.

  • Ensure all integrations comply with security, confidentiality, and data governance standards consistent with firm policies.


Education and/or Experience:
Required:

  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience with Workday integrations.

  • Advanced knowledge of Workday integration tools such as: Core Connectors, EIB, RaaS, Workday Studio, Workday Orchestrate, CCTPP, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST)

  • Experience developing integrations with downstream HR, Payroll, Financial, and third-party applications.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and updating integrations to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and optimal system performance.

  • Experience with XML, XSLT, JSON, and data transformation methodologies.

  • Understanding of secure file transfer protocols (SFTP) and data encryption standards.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Experience working in Agile or structured project delivery environments.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Workday Cloud Connect for Third-Party Payroll (CCTPP) strongly preferred.

  • Workday Integration, Studio and/or Orchestrate certification.

  • Experience supporting PeopleSoft to Workday transitions, including data mapping, transformation, and ongoing integration between systems.

  • Experience supporting Workday integrations related to modules including Recruiting, Advanced Compensation, Time Tracking, Absence, and Talent.

  • Understanding of middleware applications and integration frameworks.

The target salary range for this role is:

$112,000 - $192,000 if located in Illinois, California, Texas, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, or Washington, D.C.

Salaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
