Job Description:

  • The Workday Testing Specialist leads and coordinates testing activities across Workday implementation and upgrade projects, ensuring the quality and accuracy of configurations, integrations, and data conversions before go-live.
  • This role develops comprehensive test strategies, creates and executes test scripts, manages defect tracking, and coordinates testing cycles across functional and technical workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the overall test strategy, test plan, and testing schedule for Workday implementation and upgrade projects.
  • Create, organize, and execute functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance test (UAT) scripts across all Workday modules.
  • Coordinate testing activities with functional consultants, technical teams, and client end-users.
  • Manage defect tracking lifecycle including documentation, assignment, prioritization, and resolution verification.
  • Facilitate UAT sessions, train end-users on testing procedures, and collect and consolidate feedback.
  • Conduct parallel testing for Payroll and Financials to validate results against legacy system outputs.
  • Develop automated testing frameworks using tools such as Kainos Smart, Tricentis Tosca, or similar where applicable.
  • Produce test metrics and status reports for project leadership and steering committees.
  • Support regression testing activities following Workday weekly/biannual releases.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Workday testing or QA experience
  • Experience developing and executing test plans and scripts
  • Proficiency in defect tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow)
  • Strong understanding of Workday module functionality across HCM/Finance
  • Experience facilitating UAT and managing end-user testing sessions
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Workday testing tool experience (Kainos Smart, Tricentis Tosca)
  • ISTQB or similar QA/testing certification
  • Workday Payroll parallel testing experience
  • Automation scripting experience
  • Higher education or government Workday implementation experience
  • Experience with load/performance testing in Workday environments

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field. ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification preferred.
