TEKsystems has a short term contract for a Workday Payroll Consultant with strong Functional Configuration expeirnce within Canadian Payroll and some US.

Our current customer is seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Consultant to provide immediate configuration and support following a recent Workday go-live (was in June). This consultant will focus primarily on resolving critical Canadian payroll issues that currently require manual intervention, while also supporting some U.S. payroll configuration as needed.

This is a hands-on functional configuration role for a Workday payroll expert who can quickly assess existing configurations, identify gaps, troubleshoot complex payroll scenarios, and implement practical solutions. The initial engagement is expected to last approximately 1 - 2 months, with potential for longer-term Workday platform support.

This role can be performed remotely, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. Core hours are generally 9:00 - 5:00 Mountain time.

Job Duties:

Diagnose and resolve critical Workday Canadian payroll configuration issues.

Correct payroll calculations that currently require manual processing.

Review existing configurations and identify missed or incomplete business requirements.

Configure and troubleshoot Canadian statutory pay calculations.

Resolve skills-based pay calculation issues.

Correct PTO accrual configurations, balances, and related payroll impacts.

Support U.S. payroll configuration and troubleshooting when needed.

Ask targeted questions to uncover configuration gaps and downstream impacts.

Evaluate issues across payroll processes, integrations, eligibility rules, and calculations.

Recommend sustainable solutions that reduce manual work and improve payroll accuracy.

Partner with payroll, HRIS, and business stakeholders to prioritize urgent issues.

Document configuration changes, decisions, open risks, and recommended next steps.

Help define the remaining scope and level of effort for payroll stabilization.

Required Skills:

Extensive hands-on experience configuring Workday Payroll.

Demonstrated expertise in Canadian payroll configuration and processing.

Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements, including statutory pay.

Experience troubleshooting complex payroll calculations and production issues.

Ability to independently assess existing Workday configurations and implement corrections.

Experience supporting payroll environments with varying employee populations and seasonal workforce changes.

Ability to communicate technical payroll issues clearly to payroll and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience configuring and supporting U.S. Payroll in Workday.

Previous experience stabilizing payroll after a Workday implementation or go-live.

Experience with skills-based pay, PTO accruals, and complex eligibility or calculation rules.

Experience supporting large, multi-entity, or seasonal organizations.

Ability to provide longer-term Workday platform support after the initial engagement.

Employee population: Approximately 800 Canadian employees currently, increasing to roughly 5,000 during winter operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $120.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
