Job description

Serve as the lead Architect-level individual contributor for Workday Financials implementations, optimizations, and transformation initiatives within Higher Education institutions.
Design scalable, sustainable, and compliant Workday Financials solutions aligned with client business objectives and industry best practices.
Lead end-to-end solution architecture across the Workday Financials platform, ensuring alignment between business requirements, security, reporting, integrations, and operational processes.
  • Provide strategic guidance on Financials operating models, process design, governance, and system architecture.
  • Facilitate executive stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and solution design decisions.
  • Advise clients on best practices related to budget control, commitment accounting, fund accounting, grants administration, procurement operations, and financial governance.
  • Design solutions that support strong internal controls, audit readiness, and segregation of duties requirements.
  • Partner with technical, reporting, integration, and change management teams to deliver cohesive enterprise solutions.
  • Mentor consultants and architects while establishing delivery standards and best practices.
  • Support business development efforts through solution demonstrations, proposal development, estimates, and architecture assessments.

Required Qualifications
  • Deep functional expertise in Workday Financials architecture, configuration, and solution design.
  • Strong understanding of Workday Financial Accounting, Foundation Data Model (FDM), Commitment Accounting, Budget Management, Procurement, Supplier Accounts, Revenue Management, Customer Accounts, Banking & Settlement, Assets, Projects, and related business processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading solution architecture and complex design decisions across multiple Workday Financials functional areas.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial operations, internal controls, security design, and segregation of duties within Workday.
  • Experience supporting post-production Workday Financials environments, including Phase X initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, feature adoption, and optimization roadmaps.
  • Ability to assess client business requirements and translate them into scalable, sustainable Workday solutions.
  • Exceptional consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with Finance, Procurement, Budget, Grants, and Executive leadership teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, client requests, and project deliverables in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Workday Grants Management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting Higher Education, Research Institutions, State and Local Government, or other Public Sector organizations highly preferred.
  • Experience with fund accounting, sponsored research administration, grant lifecycle management, and budget control processes preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a Workday Application Management Services (AMS) environment preferred.
  • Experience leading Phase X assessments, roadmap planning, tenant optimization initiatives, and Workday feature adoption strategies.
  • Multiple full lifecycle Workday Financials implementations, including post-go-live support and optimization engagements.
  • Current Workday Financials certification(s) preferred.

Pay Transparency
Compensation for roles at Avaap varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific business unit, team, role, skillset, and level of experience. As required by law, Avaap provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired.
  • Base Salary Range is $170,000 to $205,000 plus an additional 25% variable compensation is available for this specific role. At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range.
  • During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment

  • Ability to work remotely or out of one of Avaap's physical office locations
  • Current permanent U.S. work authorization required
