Description of Position:
The Ministry Assistant Works under the direction of the Corps Officers, provide support to all aspects of the Seaford Sussex Chapel Ministry, specifically the Family Support Outreach.
Responsibilities
DUTIES
Program Management
  • Build solid Christian outreach connections with social service clients and community at large parents for the expressed purpose of incorporating them into a parenting/family support weekly supper program.
  • Develop and maintain programs and ministries that enhance children and teens' spiritual and emotional development.
  • Provide leadership to the Sunday Children's Ministry programs.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute Vacation Bible School.
  • Recruit and train leaders to serve within the Youth Ministries Team.
  • Oversee the process of sending campers to Camp Ladore, including recruitment, paperwork processing, utilizing Camp Minder, and providing transportation.
  • Plan and lead weekly worship and youth fellowship time during the Family Supper Club Support.
  • Support the Supper Club program by engaging and connecting with both parents and children while supporting and reinforcing the Pastoral efforts and office of the Corps Officers.
  • Develop, plan, and execute weekly character-building programs that reach children and teens, including Music and Arts, Troops, Jr. Soldiers, Corps Cadets, and other similar programs.
  • Create and maintain appropriate boundaries within all youth ministry programs, promoting safety.
  • Promote and attend Divisional youth events.
  • Support seasonal activities and special events like the annual Christmas/Kettle campaign.
  • Actively support children within Corps programs by attending, encouraging, and supporting their school and afterschool activities.

Administration
  • Maintain good record-keeping according to Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Provide good stewardship by staying within budgets and protecting Corps property and equipment.
  • Follow all Salvation Army KeepSAfe policies to protect children and vulnerable adults.
  • Be an active part of The Salvation Army team, including involvement in Corps events as requested, promoting other areas of Corps work, and promoting the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Keep work and program areas clean and organized.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in religious studies. Business/management experience preferred.
  • An understanding, knowledge, and appreciation of the Bible.
  • Ability to work on Sunday.
  • A valid Driver's license, ability to drive a 12-passenger van, and ability to pass the Salvation Army van driver certification course.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new software applications.
  • A passion for outreach to the unchurched and a sensitivity to those in disadvantaged circumstances.
  • Must be able to manage, plan, organize, and implement quality, creative children and adult programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
