Salary:

Position Summary:

The School Bus Driver plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of student transportation services. In addition to transporting students to and from school, this position supports the school's Corporate Work Study Program by providing safe and timely transportation to a variety of workplaces and local businesses. Drivers may also volunteer for field trips and other special route assignments throughout the school year.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport students to and from school, home, and designated work-study placements throughout Kansas City and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers by following all applicable traffic laws, safety protocols, and school policies.
  • Maintain punctual and dependable route schedules.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, school staff, and workplace supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records related to mileage, routes, student attendance, and any incidents.
  • Adhere to all state and federal transportation regulations, including those specific to student transportation.
  • Volunteer for field trips, extracurricular routes, or other special driving assignments, as desired.
  • Report any transportation issues, delays, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor immediately.


Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and operate a vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions.
  • May require occasional lifting of equipment or student belongings up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to noise, vibration, and outdoor conditions.


Education and Experience:

  • Valid Class B drivers license.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
  • Prior experience transporting students or working with youth is preferred.
