Job Summary
The Work Study Student will support the Department of Access Services as a Circulation Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. This is a Federal Work-Study position with Georgia Southern Libraries. Although the position is housed within the Libraries, the primary work location will be the Foy Building. The student employee will provide general information regarding library facilities, resources, and services; assist patrons; support daily operations; and perform activities related to Access Services and Equipment Circulation.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Employment is contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities
- Answers phone promptly and courteously and either transfer the call, take a message, or handle circulation inquiry
- Arranges discharged items on book carts in call number order
- Assists patrons with computers, photocopiers, and scanning
- Answers field music-related questions or inquiries and direct patrons to appropriate resources
- Charges/ Discharges circulating books and reserve items
- Empties book drop regularly
- Maintains paper and toner in printers
- Sensitizes books to be shelved in the circulating collection
- Shelf-reads, dusts, and straightens books in assigned areas
- Shelves circulating books, journals, and reference books
- Inventories books
- Charges/ Discharges GIL Express and ILL books
- Updates patron records
- Assists with opening and closing the library as needed
- Arranges furniture within the library
- Dusts and vacuums the checkout desk area
- Processes Equipment
Shift Specifics
- Up to 20 hours per week
- Flexible with schedule of availability

- Monday - Thursday 10 AM - 6 PM
- Friday 9 AM - 5 AM
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Other Required Qualifications
- Must be Federal Work eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to proofread and spell accurately
- Previous experience working independently with minimal instruction or supervision
- Knowledge of and interest in music
Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
