Job Summary

Gateway Community and Technical College invites applications for the (Student Only) Part-Time position of Chemistry Lab Student Assistant. The part-time Lab Assistant will assist the chemistry department instructor in organizing and maintaining a clean and safe chemistry laboratory.

Job Duties:

  • Organize, inventory, and label chemicals and supplies in the chemistry laboratory.
  • Help prepare stock solutions, clean glassware, and assist in general laboratory duties.
  • Assist chemistry instructor as necessary to maintain a safe and clean laboratory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours: Up to 20 hours per week; flexible between 8 AM - 6 PM Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to pay attention to detail, follow specific instructions, and perform math calculations up to a college algebra level.
  • Willingness to learn about chemistry, chemical hazards, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Dependable, able to maintain an agreed-upon schedule, professional, courteous, and able to work well with the supervisor and others.
  • Understand and follow safety procedures. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chemistry or physical science major preferred.
