Houston, TX

$145,000 Base Salary


A Controls Engineer is required for a Houston-based power generation role focused on generator control systems, commissioning support, PLC/HMI programming and control panel testing before shipment.

This Controls Engineer role suits someone with electrical controls experience across generators, switchgear, medium-voltage systems and customer-facing commissioning support.

The Controls Engineer / Power Generation Controls Engineer / Automation Engineer Role:

  • Program, test and troubleshoot generator set control systems
  • Support PLC, HMI, relay and protective device programming

  • Support installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting in the field

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline
  • 2–4 years’ experience commissioning power generation and/or medium-voltage systems
  • Working knowledge of MCCs, VFDs, switchgear, motors, AC/DC systems and electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read single-line drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics and controls schematics
  • Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel up to 25% and legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer
