Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Student Worker Clerical Assistant to support the Radon Education Program in Reno, NV. This position contributes to statewide outreach and education efforts that help Nevada communities understand radon risks and take action to protect their health.
As part of a land-grant university system, Extension connects research-based knowledge with practical solutions that improve lives. The Radon Education Program delivers science-based education, resources, and community programming across Nevada.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Student Worker provides administrative, outreach, and communications support to assist with coordination of radon education classes, stakeholder engagement, and program data tracking.
This is a part-time student position (up to 20 hours per week). Employment is contingent upon maintaining student status in good academic standing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support to the Radon Education Program Manager
- Assist with collecting, organizing, and tracking program data and outreach metrics
- Support outreach efforts by contacting community partners to schedule radon education classes and events
- Assist with updating and maintaining radon maps, statistics, and reporting tools
- Help update website content and program materials
- Respond professionally to phone and email inquiries from stakeholders and the public
- Compile articles, updates, and images for quarterly newsletters
- Assist with updating fact sheets and educational materials
- Prepare and ship class materials to event locations statewide
- Support community outreach events (e.g., health fairs, workshops), including assisting with informational tables and engaging with the public
Minimum Qualifications
- Current University of Nevada, Reno student in good academic standing
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Professional and courteous communication when interacting with community members
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in public health, environmental science, communications, or a related field
- Experience with administrative support, outreach, or student organizations
- Experience working with data or tracking information
- Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms)
- Experience creating newsletters or communication materials

Work Environment
