Sound Engineer – Job DescriptionPosition Overview

The Sound Engineer is responsible for delivering high‑quality audio experiences during worship services, events, livestreams, and recordings. This role ensures that spoken word, music, and media elements are mixed with clarity, consistency, and technical excellence. The engineer works closely with worship leaders, pastors, musicians, and production volunteers to create an environment that supports engagement and minimizes distractions.


Key Responsibilities???? Live Audio Mixing
  • Operate FOH (Front of House) and monitor consoles during services and events

  • Balance vocals, instruments, and playback tracks for clarity and musicality

  • Adjust EQ, compression, effects, and routing in real time

???? Microphone & Stage Setup
  • Set up microphones, DI boxes, monitors, and stage cabling

  • Ensure proper gain staging and signal flow

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized stage layouts

???? Livestream Audio
  • Mix broadcast audio separately when required

  • Monitor streaming levels, clarity, and sync with video

  • Troubleshoot latency or routing issues

???? Equipment Management
  • Maintain audio consoles, wireless systems, speakers, and outboard gear

  • Perform routine checks and basic repairs

  • Track inventory and report equipment needs

???? Volunteer Training
  • Train and mentor volunteer audio techs

  • Create simple workflows and documentation

  • Provide constructive feedback and hands‑on coaching

???? Team Collaboration
  • Work with worship leaders to plan audio needs

  • Attend rehearsals and production meetings

  • Communicate proactively about technical requirements
