Student Employee Expectations in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions include, but are not limited to, the list below. Please review:
Student Employment Expectations
By accepting a campus position, you assume responsibility for your work performance and conduct. Direct any questions or concerns to your supervisor.
Punctuality
Student employees are expected to arrive on time, ready to work, and clock in via the Kronos app no earlier than 10 minutes before their shift. Notify the V&E team in advance if you'll be late or absent. All instances of tardiness are documented; repeated cases may result in remedial action. Welcome Center and Call Center employees must remain in the office for their full shift.
Time Off & Dropping Shifts
Requests for time off outside your standard availability must be submitted at least fourteen (14) days before the schedule release. A dropped assigned shift remains your responsibility until picked up. Uncovered, missed shifts count as "no-shows." In cases of illness or emergency, notify V&E immediately and drop the shift; you will not be penalized if coverage cannot be found.
Training & Monthly Meetings
All scheduled trainings and monthly meetings are mandatory. Two meeting options will be offered. If you are unable to attend either due to class, off-campus work, or an internship, please email V&E with a screenshot verifying the conflict. You must review missed content with a Fellow within seven (7) days. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be removed from shifts until complete. Missing two (2) meetings without makeup will result in termination.
Academic & Personal Work
Academic or personal work is not permitted while clocked in unless approved by a supervisor. Job assignments take priority at all times.
Dress Code
Student employees should present a clean, professional appearance that reflects GWU pride and a "smart casual" standard. GW-affiliated tops are required for tours and Welcome Center shifts; office-appropriate bottoms are required for all shifts. Avoid overly casual or revealing clothing, non-GWU logos, and open-toe shoes. Religious attire is always permitted.
Shift Assignments
Students may be reassigned by staff or Fellows during their scheduled shift as needed and are expected to be prepared for all admissions roles (Welcome Center, Call Center, tours, events, etc.).
Tour Expectations
Tour guides must wear the provided microphones and ensure they are on at each stop. Mic packs include Bluetooth tracking devices that must not be removed or tampered with.
