Work In Spain information

What are the requirements to work in Spain as a foreigner?

To work in Spain as a foreigner, you generally need a valid work visa and residence permit unless you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland. Non-EU citizens must typically secure a job offer from a Spanish employer before applying for a visa. The employer often assists with the work permit application process. Additionally, you may need to provide proof of qualifications, a clean criminal record, and health insurance. Requirements can vary based on the type of job and your country of origin.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional working in Spain, and why are they important?

To thrive as a professional working in Spain, you generally need relevant educational qualifications, professional experience, and proficiency in Spanish or another required language for your field. Familiarity with local business tools, industry-specific software, and, in some cases, accreditation for regulated professions is important. Strong cross-cultural communication, adaptability, and networking abilities help professionals integrate and succeed in the Spanish workplace. These skills and qualifications are vital for effective collaboration, compliance with local standards, and building successful professional relationships in Spain.

What are some common challenges faced by expatriates starting a job in Spain, and how can they overcome them?

Expatriates working in Spain often encounter challenges such as language barriers, adapting to different workplace cultures, and navigating local administrative processes. To overcome these obstacles, it's helpful to take Spanish language classes, actively participate in team activities to understand local customs, and seek guidance from HR or colleagues about legal requirements and paperwork. Embracing Spain's collaborative and relationship-based work environment can also ease the transition and help build strong professional networks.

Project Manager USA - East Coast

Posted 6 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Own and manage court installation projects from site visit to final handover, ensuring all aspects are on track.

  • Coordinate site surveys, review and adapt technical drawings, and plan project timelines, crews, equipment, and budgets.

  • Supervise installation crews and subcontractors, ensure quality and safety compliance, and facilitate project handover to clients.

Job description

🚀 MejorSet USA is hiring a Project Manager for padel court installations across the East Coast.

📍 Remote, based anywhere on the East Coast · Regular travel to project sites · $70,000 to $80,000 per year

MejorSet is a Spanish manufacturer of premium padel courts, with courts installed in more than 75 countries. Padel is growing faster in the United States than almost anywhere else, and we are building the team that makes sure every court we ship arrives, gets installed and plays exactly as it should.

🔧 What is the job?

You will own our court installation projects on the East Coast from first site visit to final handover.

That means being the person who knows what is happening on every project: what has shipped, what is on site, which crew is working, what is behind schedule and what the club has been promised. When a project goes well, it is because someone was on top of all of it. That someone is you.

What your day to day looks like

· Site surveys: assessing slabs, dimensions, levels, drainage, access and power before anything is ordered.

· Reviewing and adapting technical drawings and court layouts in CAD.

· Planning each project: timeline, crew, equipment, budget and critical dates.

· Coordinating shipping, customs, delivery and unloading with our team in Spain.

· Scheduling and supervising installation crews and subcontractors on site.

· Quality control against MejorSet specifications during and after installation.

· Health and safety compliance on every site.

· Handover to the client: walkthrough, punch list, documentation and sign off.

· Acting as the technical point of contact for clubs, developers and distributors throughout the project.

· Feeding back to our engineering and production teams in Spain on what we can do better.

🎯 Who we are looking for

Someone who has run construction or installation projects before and knows that the job is equal parts technical judgement and keeping people informed.

Requirements:

· Construction background, whether on site or in project management.

· Proven experience managing projects end to end, with responsibility for schedule and budget.

· CAD proficiency, enough to read, check and adapt technical drawings.

· Based on the East Coast, with availability to travel to project sites.

· Valid driver's license and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have:

· Spanish. Our engineering and production teams are based in Spain, and speaking their language makes the day to day a lot easier.

· Experience with sports facilities, modular structures, steel structures or turf systems.

· Experience coordinating international shipping and customs.

· OSHA certification.

🌍 What we offer

· $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

· Remote role with travel to project sites across the East Coast.

· A technical product and a young market. Padel in the United States is early enough that how we do this now will set the standard.

· Direct work with our engineering and production teams in Spain.
