Job description

Electric Power Systems International, Inc. in Richardson, Texas has an opening for a Systems Protection Group Engineer IV.

Job Description: Perform and review System studies including Short Circuit, Protective settings, Coordination, Harmonics, Motor Starting, and Arc Flash analysis. Perform and review Relay programming for multiple platforms including SEL, GE, ABB, Basler, Siemens, SquareD, and Beckwith. Perform and review Power Quality Studies; Including load studies and forensic analysis. Perform Failure Analysis and Troubleshooting for complex power system issues. Develop scope, price and schedule estimates for complex, non-standard projects. Support Sales in development of non-standard project quotations, presentations and support to client meetings. Participate in both internal and external meetings as required. Develop and provide training for less experienced engineers regarding system studies and/or relay programming. Provide technical support to testing teams, including analyzing power quality tests, medium voltage cable tests, relay test results and relay event reports. Perform quality control reviews of projects as required. Position supervises 3 Engineers and 1 System Protection Engineer. Partial remote work available, reporting to EPS office in Richardson, TX. Domestic travel required 20% of time to work on project locations within Texas.

Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience. Must have experience in each of the following skills: Review and interpretation of power quality/harmonics and load flow data from power quality meters; Utilizing commercial, industrial, and utility energy systems; NFPA 70E standards for safety; IEEE Standards for testing the equipment such as MV breakers, CTS (on MV breakers and XFMRS), and MV XFMRs; and Relay Protection and Manuals for testing and checking the coordination with the downstream breakers.
