As a work from home draftsman, your responsibilities are to create, detail, update, and modify a drawing for a project to ensure it meets all technical specifications. Work from home drafters usually specialize in a particular area of design, such as architecture, electrical, civil, or mechanical projects. Most work is done with CAD software, but as part of your job as a drafter or architect, you may be asked to occasionally visit work sites and ensure that particularly complex elements are built correctly. In some positions, you may also ensure that the final products meet all applicable safety standards and regulations. Other aspects of this job vary by industry. For example, a draftsman designing built-in wireless systems needs to account for the loss of signal range caused by walls and equipment. In contrast, a draftsman creating energy efficiency measurement systems may need to program and adjust the software to account for the unique features of a worksite.
