Job description

Job Title: Inpatient Coder Primary Location: Remote Position Type: Contract Overview: Casting a line for a HIM Inpatient Coder. This is a remote, work-from-home contract role. This position is responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM-PCS and/or CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to inpatient records, drawing on strong academic, trauma, and/or research university coding experience. What You Bring to the Role
  • RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS Certification
  • Minimum 3 years of Inpatient medical record coding experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Proficiency with Windows applications, Outlook, WebEx, and other tools as needed
  • Ability to concentrate on task and minimize distractions in a private work-from-home space
  • Ability to apply local, state, and federal coding guidelines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Access to an Encoder required
What You'll Do
  • Assign ICD-10-CM-PCS and/or CPT-4 diagnostic and procedure codes to patient charts with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Abstract selected data items and enter into 3M encoder/Epic software with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Complete UHDDS data abstraction as required
  • Maintain a log of work performed
  • Complete other assigned duties as directed by management
