What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a WordPress Frontend Developer, and why are they important?
What is the difference between Wordpress Frontend Developer vs Web Designer?
| Aspect | Wordpress Frontend Developer | Web Designer |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Focus | Building and customizing website interfaces using code | Designing visual layouts and user experience |
| Skills | HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress theme development | Graphic design, UI/UX principles, Adobe Creative Suite |

Both collaborate closely but serve different core functions in website development.

Job description
- Dual-Platform Mastery: Deep, hands-on experience with Magento 2.x (architecture, EAV models, UI components) and WordPress (custom themes, hooks, and plugin development).
- Legacy Code Navigation: A proven ability to inherit, audit, and optimize existing codebases. You should be comfortable identifying "technical debt" and documenting inherited systems.

- Database & Performance Ninja: Experience optimizing MySQL queries and managing high-performance caching layers like Redis, Varnish, and Elasticsearch.
- Frontend Fluency: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS (SASS/LESS), and JavaScript. Specific experience with Magento's frontend stack (Knockout.js, RequireJS) is a significant plus.
- System Integration Skills: Experience working with REST/GraphQL APIs to connect Magento and WordPress with external ERPs, CRMs, or marketing tools.
- DevOps & Deployment Savvy: Solid understanding of Git version control, staging-to-production workflows, and managing Linux-based server environments (Nginx/Apache).
- Security-First Mindset: Knowledge of PCI compliance, Magento security patching, and WordPress hardening techniques to keep our data and customers safe.
- Certification (The "Gold Standard"): While not required, an Adobe Certified Professional (Magento) or similar credential will put you at the top of our list.
- Competitive salary and bonuses, including performance-based salary increases.
- Generous paid-time-off policy
- Flexible working hours
- Work remotely
- Continuing education, training, conferences
- Company-sponsored coursework, exams, and certifications
