Duties and Responsibilities:
  • *Assists with assessment, design, development, and implementation of solutions to meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices for application and database services and support.
  • *Supports with evaluation of project constraints, identification of alternatives, risk mitigation, and process re-engineering
  • *Assists with creation, maintenance, and enhancement of procedures, processes, and designs for software and systems
  • *Assists with identification and evaluation of integration considerations and determine the impact to other systems at the University. Helps to recommend a solution based on best practices; provide alternatives as needed.
  • *Assists with development of detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, testing scenarios, deliverables, and resource requirements
  • *Supports work with business end-users and/or project stakeholders to gather and document project's business requirements with consideration for interpretation, compliance, and application of state/federal laws, rules, regulations & Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • *Assists with development of high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements that is documented in an appropriate level of detail and in a format suitable for the project team to manage.
  • *Supports requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, verifiable, and conforms to established standards for new system implementations and/or upgrades to existing systems that introduces changes in features and functionalities.
  • *Identifies potential risks and obstacles to project success, proactively helping to develop mitigation strategies, and adopts plans as needed.
  • *Assists in the development, implementation, and improvements to information systems and processes
  • *Provides support and coordination of end-user acceptance testing and validation. Participates and administers user acceptance testing and provides follow-up on issue resolution.
  • *Follows and implements directives and guidance related to best practices from University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Services.
  • *Ensures the consistent adoption, implementation, and enforcement of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service.
  • *Keeps abreast of recommendations issued through University of Hawai'i System Information Technology Service, and takes timely action as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate educational degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science and 0 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for business analysis; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Functional knowledge of business analysis, system analysis, process analysis, and solution recommendation demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software associated with business analysis and development.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems in the area of business analysis and project management.
  5. Ability to comprehend, interpret and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  6. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  7. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.

Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Familiarity with the University of Hawaii's organizational structure, policies and procedures
  2. Experience working with university or higher education software and systems
  3. Experience working with web design and working knowledge of WordPress
  4. Familiarity with Onbase, HCM Systems, KualiBuild
  5. Experience with coding and SDLC
