Berlin is an independent, owner-operated creative agency based in Edmonton, Alberta. We are a collective of mavericks, rebels, and disruptors using outlier thinking to help brands swerve big from routine. We're also back-to-back Strategy Magazine Small Agency of the Year finalists-the only ones in Alberta. It's a recognition we're honoured to hold as one of the best independent full-service advertising agencies in Canada.

We're seeking an intermediate or senior Copywriter to join our crew, and we're open to this being a remote position.

Check us out at berlin.ca

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Copywriters are creative conceptors. Strategic thinkers. And empathetic wordsmiths. The best ones don't simply write. They masterfully transform everyday, boring words into attention-grabbing, creatively emotive messages that disrupt routine-whether it's a provocative campaign concept, 7-word headline on a billboard, poetic manifesto in a 30-second video, or 125-character Instagram post.

That's precisely who Berlin is looking for.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create unexpected ideas and engaging copy through collaboration with Art Directors, Designers and Strategists.
  • Explain your ideas and thinking to Berliners and clients.
  • Juggle multiple projects with differing timelines across a wide range of media (including, but not limited to, video, social, print, outdoor, guerrilla, direct, digital, and radio).
  • Craft a bespoke brand voice tailored to each unique client.
  • Stay up-to-date on creativity in our industry.
  • Experiment with generative AI.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A portfolio of award-winning headlines and conceptual thinking.
  • Over three years of advertising copywriting experience-ad agency experience only.
  • Strong grammar skills.
  • Understanding of generative AI's role in the creative process.
  • An eagerness to be pushed from good to great.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and low ego-not everything will go your way.
  • A willingness to take ownership in organizing and maintaining creative files and assets.
  • The hunger to conceptualize provocative ideas and emotive copy that other creatives will dog-ear in their Communication Arts Annual.

Remote candidates (in Canada only) are welcome to apply.

Candidates are required to submit a link to their portfolio website with their application. Only those with a portfolio website will be considered. Please do not reach out to inquire about your application (doing so will disqualify your application). Only those candidates who are selected for an interview will be contacted.
