They read blueprints or work orders, select the appropriate tools and materials, and ensure machines are calibrated for precise cuts. Operators also inspect finished products for quality, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents. Their work is essential in manufacturing furniture, cabinetry, and other wood products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a woodworking machine operator, and why are they important?

Key soft skills include problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication to ensure safe and efficient workflow. These skills are important to maintain product quality, ensure workplace safety, and meet production targets in a manufacturing environment.

What are some common challenges faced by woodworking machine operators, and how can they be addressed?

At Balanced Body, we don't just make world-class Pilates equipment - we make it with craft, care, and a team of people who genuinely love what they do. Our Woodshop is the heartbeat of our manufacturing operation, and we're looking for a driven, people-first leader to step up as our next CNC Crew Lead.

This isn't just a technical role - it's a chance to shape a team, sharpen your leadership skills, and leave your mark on products that change lives in over 100 countries.

You'll be the go-to person for our Robot/CNC operations - keeping machines humming, programs optimized, and your crew set up for success every single day. You'll partner closely with your supervisor to set daily, weekly, and monthly goals, then rally your team to crush them.

  • Lead from the front - coach, mentor, train, and grow the people around you. You'll have real responsibility for their development, performance reviews, and corrective action (with support from your supervisor and HR).
  • Program and operate CNC/Robot machines - Maestro experience is a big plus.
  • Drive production planning using Business Central (BC), making sure completions are logged correctly and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Own your department's inventory - track it, audit it, and keep it tight.
  • Level up efficiency - always looking for smarter ways to work without cutting corners on quality.
  • Hire smart - participate in interviews and help choose the next great addition to the team.
  • Work safely, always - enforce safe woodworking techniques and lead by example on the production floor.

Tools of the trade: saw, sander, router, grinder, battery power drills - and a sharp eye for quality.

Requirements

Who You Are You're a natural leader who gets energized by helping others succeed. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, you solve problems before they become fires, and you take real pride in the work coming off your line.

  • 5+ years operating and programming CNC/Robot machines
  • 3+ years in a leadership role, ideally leading CNC teams
  • Strong communicator - written and verbal
  • Strategic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented
  • Adaptable when priorities shift (and they will)
  • Physically ready for a full shift - able to stand (8+ hours), reach, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Safety-first mindset: you follow procedures and actively participate in safety meetings and training
  • Self-motivated, positive, and consistent - great attendance matters here

We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits including:

  • Medical, Dental & Vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Life, AD&D & Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
