Job description

Flowers Foods is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Route Sales Representative to join their Houlton, ME sales team!


The Route Sales Representative (RSR) is responsible for delivering, selling, ordering, and merchandising fresh bakery products to an assigned route of retail stores, restaurants, schools, and other customer locations. This role combines driving, sales, merchandising, and customer service to maximize product availability, grow sales, build strong customer relationships, and provide exceptional service.


Flowers Foods manufactures many of America's favorite brands, including Nature's Own, Wonder Bread, Dave's Killer Bread, Tastykake, and Canyon Bakehouse.


This position requires working independently, building strong customer relationships, and servicing accounts during designated receiving windows, which may include early mornings, weekends, and holidays.


Pay: $24.50/hour (paid weekly)


Schedule:

Route Sales Representatives typically begin their workday between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.; however, exact start times vary by warehouse and route assignment and will be determined by the Area Sales Director based on business and customer needs.


You will average 45-55 hours per week, work EVERY Saturday, and have Sundays and Wednesdays off. (this is subject to change based on business needs)


Responsibilities

  • Deliver and merchandise fresh bakery products to assigned customer accounts.
  • Drive an 18-foot box truck safely while following DOT and company regulations.
  • Order products using a handheld device to ensure customers receive fresh product.
  • Stock shelves, rotate product using FIFO, and remove stale, damaged, or out-of-code items.
  • Increase sales by securing additional shelf space and promotional displays.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with store managers and customers.
  • Follow assigned routes, service schedules, and customer receiving times.
  • Complete daily route settlements, invoices, inventories, and required paperwork.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, organized truck and work area.
  • Follow all company policies related to safety, food quality, and customer service.


Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb in and out of the truck.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
