Job description

The Women's Health Physician Leadership role provides unified clinical, academic, operational, and strategic leadership across Catholic Health's inpatient and outpatient women's health services. This physician leader integrates the responsibilities of a traditional Department Chair with the systemwide scope of a Women's Service Line Leader, overseeing care delivery to ensure excellence in quality, patient safety, access, experience, education, and growth.

In partnership with the Women's Service Line Director, Administrative Dyad Leader, system executives, nursing leadership, and site-based teams, the leader advances a coordinated, mission-driven model of care aligned with Catholic Health's values and strategic priorities. Grounded in the ACOG Physician Leadership Competency Framework, the role leads physicians and APPs, drives quality and safety, supports operational performance, and fosters a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement to deliver compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based care to women and families across Western New York.

Key Requirements:

  • Medical Degree either a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from accredited institution

  • Candidate must have current, unrestricted, NY State license or NYS Licensure in progress and active on date of hire with an active NYS DEA certificate

  • Board Eligible or Certified in OB/GYN

  • Doctor shall be Electronic Fetal Monitor (EFM) Certified

  • Board-certified OB/GYN physician with 10 years of clinical practice experience.

  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience in a complex health system, medical group, or service line structure.

  • Deep understanding of clinical operations, quality improvement, and performance management.

  • Advanced leadership education such as MBA, MMM, or equivalent degree Preferred

  • Experience with academic partnerships, research programs, and clinical education preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that both clinical practice (Chair role) and operational workflows (Service Line role) reflect Catholic Health's mission and values.

  • Provides executive oversight of all administrative functions within the OB/GYN Department, ensuring alignment with system goals

  • Serve as the spokesperson for women's health services, building relationships with community health leaders and referring physicians

  • Establishes credentialing criteria and OPPE thresholds for all OB/GYN providers and maintains clinical care standards, required policies, and evidence-based guidelines.

  • Leads peer review, quality governance, and clinical policy development.

  • Lead initiatives to standardize care protocols, monitor key performance metrics, and drive continuous quality improvement to enhance maternal and gynecological outcomes.

  • Determines clinical needs, service requirements, and specialty-specific expectations across the system.

  • Oversees financial performance, productivity, cost management, and business planning for the Women's Service Line.

  • Recruits, evaluates, and develops clinicians; sets expectations for professionalism and academic excellence.

  • Leads market growth, service expansion, and business development for the Women's Service Line.

  • Provides professional mentorship to physicians, providers and trainees
