Job description

North Point Technology is looking to hire a Systems Engineering Architect to support AWS Resiliency and Recovery. The qualified candidate must currently hold an active Top Secret security clearance (with the ability to obtain SCI and CI Polygraph), and will work hand-in-hand with technical and program management leadership, along with various external stakeholders, to design and implement AWS Resiliency and Recovery capabilities including cross-AZ recovery procedures, infrastructure automation, and automated failover orchestration. The ideal candidate brings experience across multiple Systems Engineering and architecture domains, with a focus on standing up and maintaining cloud environments and deploying custom code, COTS, and GOTS to those environments with a Geospatial focus.

Responsibilities:

This position involves systems engineering activities that support building and delivering innovative cloud-based systems. The architect will analyze current system architecture and dependencies from a full-stack perspective, identify opportunities to improve availability and resiliency, and own the system architecture roadmap and backlog in alignment with the customer's technology strategy. Responsibilities include decomposing requirements into epics and features, executing analysis of alternatives (AoA) and prototypes, maintaining requirements and interface control documents, and communicating architectural decisions, design artifacts, and strategies to both development teams and executive management.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience optimizing and managing AWS/cloud infrastructure costs, including storage, compute, and database
  • Hands-on experience with both Windows and Linux
  • Direct experience with AWS core architecture and services
  • Experience with DevOps COTS capabilities and their implementation to the cloud
  • Experience with system (hardware, software, and networking) design and architecture
  • Solid understanding of agile software development methodologies
  • Experience developing a backlog and technical roadmap
  • Experience with disaster recovery (ITDR) and data retention
  • Experience serving as a systems engineer or architect
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience briefing stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with technologies such as WMS, WFS, and KML
  • Experience with AWS architecture best practices, resiliency capabilities, and services
  • Experience with AWS EKS
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and describing architecture diagrams
  • Experience optimizing software deployments and reducing downtime, for example implementing a blue/green strategy
  • Direct experience with DevOps deployments to cloud environments using GitLab

Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI and CI Polygraph
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph (preferred)
  • DoD 8570-compliant certification (preferred)
  • Technical certifications such as Microsoft and/or AWS (preferred)
