What does 'with housing provided' mean in a job listing?

'With housing provided' means that the employer offers accommodation as part of the job compensation package. This often includes a place to live, such as an apartment, shared house, or dormitory, either free of charge or at a reduced cost. Jobs with housing provided are common in industries like hospitality, agriculture, education (such as live-in teaching roles), and seasonal work. This benefit can help employees save on living expenses and make relocation easier. However, the type and quality of housing can vary, so it’s important to ask for details before accepting an offer.

What should I expect from the living arrangements when applying for a job with housing provided?

When a job offers housing as part of the compensation package, accommodations typically range from shared apartments to private rooms, depending on the employer and location. It's important to clarify details such as room assignments, amenities, utilities included, and any house rules or curfews. Many employers provide furnished spaces and cover basic bills, but you may be responsible for personal expenses or shared cleaning duties. Open communication with your employer about the housing setup can help set expectations and ensure a comfortable living experience. Housing provided roles often foster a strong sense of community among coworkers, as you may live alongside other team members.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a property manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Property Manager, you need knowledge of real estate, property maintenance, and budgeting, often supported by a degree in business or related certifications like CAM or CPM. Familiarity with property management software (such as AppFolio or Yardi), leasing systems, and building codes is essential. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills help you effectively interact with tenants and coordinate with vendors. These skills ensure efficient property operations, tenant satisfaction, and compliance with legal and financial requirements.

Job description

Description
Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Housing & Uniforms Administrator to oversee daily operations of our employee housing program and help build a safe, well-run, and genuinely welcoming community for our seasonal workforce. This role owns the day-to-day experience of everyone living in Sugar Bowl housing while balancing structure with support, and enforcement with advocacy.
This is a role for someone who thrives when priorities are shifting fast, who can problem-solve calmly in the moment, and who communicates clearly - whether that's setting expectations with a resident, writing a concise incident summary, or escalating an issue for guidance.
Why Sugar Bowl?
Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to "sunny California" since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts alike.
Who You Are
? Highly organized, with the ability to shift smoothly between competing priorities without losing track of details.
? Calm under pressure - you manage stress well and can problem-solve effectively in the moment, not just after the fact.
? Comfortable enforcing housing rules and policies with employees who are off the clock, while remaining approachable, fair, and respectful.
? A natural advocate and leader who represents Sugar Bowl's values and mission in every interaction, balancing accountability with genuine care for residents.
? A superb communicator, written and verbal - able to write clear, simple summary reports on resident issues for the HR Manager's review, guidance, or escalation.
? Committed to holding every licensee to the same fair, consistent standard, regardless of tenure, relationship, or role.
? Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
? Highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with paperwork and documentation.
? Valid driver's license and insurance with a clean driving record; must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
? Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and enforce policies fairly and consistently.
? Experience with Salesforce and RTP (Resort Technology Partners) systems is a plus, or comparable data systems experience.
? Comfortable maintaining shared records in Excel, with the discipline to update statuses immediately so data stays accurate and reliable in real time.
What You'll Do
Housing
? Schedule daily and weekly tasks to ensure efficient operations and timely completion of all duties.
? Maintain accurate employee room information, communicating changes promptly to licensees and relevant personnel.
? Keep housing records updated primarily in Excel (shared spreadsheets), entering status changes immediately to maintain accurate, real-time data integrity for the team.
? Schedule and conduct recurring room inspections across all housing locations to uphold cleanliness, safety, and condition standards.
? Manage resident check-ins and check-outs, including move-in/move-out logistics and documentation.
? Apply Sugar Bowl housing policies fairly and consistently to every licensee, addressing violations promptly while serving as an approachable advocate for residents.
? Prepare clear, concise written summaries of resident issues, incidents, or policy concerns, and escalate to the HR Manager for review, guidance, or further action.
? Maintain close communication with security to ensure incidents are addressed quickly, appropriately, and in line with housing policies and procedures.
? Serve as a point of contact for minor housing-related issues, including conflicts between residents and general housing needs, providing consistent and timely responses
? Order and manage supplies for housing facilities to keep common areas and resident spaces well-stocked and functional.
? Identify and report maintenance needs promptly, coordinating with maintenance teams and following up to confirm timely completion.
? Oversee day-to-day cleanliness of common areas, parking lots, pathways, and doorways, including snow removal during winter storms.
? Schedule, coordinate, and oversee resets for longer-term residents to prepare rooms for new occupants or seasonal transitions.
? Directly supervise the seasonal Housing & Uniforms Coordinator, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
? Work closely with Housing peers to ensure consistent adherence to Sugar Bowl housing policies, best practices, and team standards.
? Perform simple maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., minor repairs, furniture adjustments, basic troubleshooting).
? Submit applications and schedule required county inspections to keep operating permits current and compliant.
? Conduct property safety inspections and address identified issues promptly.
? Collaborate with Resort Operations to coordinate employee shuttle services, schedules, and related transportation needs.
? Document processes and procedures, creating SOPs to support team-wide consistency and knowledge sharing.
Uniforms
? Organize and maintain accurate inventory of all resort uniforms, including seasonal stock levels and storage.
? Distribute uniforms to employees during onboarding, seasonal changes, or as replacements are needed.
? Assign tracking numbers or identifiers to individual uniform pieces for accountability and record-keeping.
? Utilize Salesforce to track uniform assignments, distributions, returns, and documentation. Coordinate uniform laundry, including liaising with outsourced laundry vendors
? Order uniform supplies and replacement items in a timely manner to avoid shortages.
? Inspect returned uniforms for damage or missing items, applying appropriate charges in accordance with policy.
? Communicate regularly with department managers regarding uniform needs, issues, returns, and compliance.
? Track uniform usage trends and report on inventory status, projected needs, and discrepancies to support budgeting and planning.
? Perform simple mending or repairs (e.g., sewing buttons, patching small tears) to extend usability and reduce replacement costs.
? Coordinate annual laundering and manage seasonal and as-needed cleaning/return processes.
? Document processes and procedures, creating SOPs to support team-wide consistency and knowledge sharing.
Physical Requirements
? Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods while performing tasks such as room inspections, moving supplies, uniform distribution, and light maintenance.
? Sit for prolonged periods while working at a computer, managing records, or completing administrative duties.
? Lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds occasionally (e.g., boxes of uniforms, cleaning supplies, furniture during resets, or snow removal equipment).
? Perform repetitive motions including grasping, handling, and fine manipulation for tasks like sorting uniforms, data entry, and simple repairs.
? Climb stairs and ladders as needed to access housing units or storage areas.
? Work in varying environmental conditions, including cold temperatures, snow/ice, and moderate noise levels typical of a mountain resort setting.
? Maintain sufficient visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely operate equipment, read labels/documents, and interact with staff and residents.
? Perform light janitorial duties and snow removal, including some heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds).
Benefits
? Employer sponsored 401k plan after 1,000 worked hours and one (1) year of service
? Paid sick time
? Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
? Professional development opportunities
? Free ski and tubing passes for employees
? Free ski passes for dependents

? Employee discounted lift tickets for family and friends
? Lift ticket discounts at multiple resorts including 24 Mountain Collective destinations
