Job description

We are looking for a Human Factors Specialist to join our team. The goal of a Human Factors Specialist at Wisk is to drive and manage the work required to demonstrate safe and efficient supervision of multiple aircraft by a single human.

At Wisk, we are designing, building and testing systems that will allow human operators to supervise safely and efficiently multiple passenger carrying eVTOL aircraft simultaneously. We test novel concepts and designs in our Autonomy Lab using various methods and tools, including: eye tracking, subjective scales for workload and UI usability, heart rate, and more. We are looking for someone to drive and manage the human factors evaluations and analyses required to inform our system's design and demonstrate compliance with regulations.

You will be part of the Human Factors team that plays a critical role in the design, testing and certification of Wisk's Gen 6 aircraft and ground control station.

In this role you will be working closely with the Human Factors team, UX/UI, Autonomy Engineers, Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, Flight Test and Certification experts.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an ambiguous environment, where there are no obvious right solutions. We are also looking for someone very proactive who takes initiatives and leads others.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View office.

Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with various teams to understand what tasks are allocated to the human operator and why.

  • You will develop and own Wisk's task analysis and leverage it to inform UI design decisions and study plans.

  • You will help develop a strategy for identifying most challenging scenarios, from an HF standpoint, for evaluation and testing purposes.

  • You will plan and lead human factors evaluations from definition of goals and research questions through data analysis and recommendations to changes in system requirements.

  • You will support all certification activities for Wisk's Gen 6 aircraft and ground control station.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Ergonomics, Psychology, or equivalent; PhD Preferred.

  • 8 years of relevant work experience.

  • Knowledge of cognitive ergonomics: cognition, perception and decision making.

  • Experience in measuring workload and human performance using both subjective scales and physiological data.

  • Experience in assessing new UI design concepts in an iterative manner.

  • Knowledge of aerospace, including aircraft systems, flight operations, and regulatory environment.

  • Experience in designing qualitative and quantitative experiments.

  • Experience preparing data sets for statistical analysis using tools such as SPSS, Stata, etc.

  • Knowledge of UI design standards for aerospace applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay range the company expects to pay: $215,000 - $269,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
