Job description

Robert E. Lee & Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Wisconsin Certified Bridge Inspector to join our team as a full-time Civil Engineer. This position is ideal for a WI Certified Bridge Inspector who can deliver bridge inspection services while also supporting transportation design and/or construction engineering projects when not performing inspections.

Robert E. Lee has been very successful in securing bridge inspection work in northeastern Wisconsin, and we are looking for a motivated engineer to help expand that success. While we work throughout the State of Wisconsin, most of our assignments are in northeastern Wisconsin. You will collaborate with an expanding team and engage in a wide range of projects that provide excellent opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. Joining our team offers the chance to work on meaningful infrastructure projects while being supported by experienced colleagues in a company that values both personal and professional development.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will primarily provide bridge inspection services in northeastern Wisconsin, with opportunities to support transportation design engineering and/or construction engineering projects when not performing inspections. Responsibilities may include a combination of bridge inspections, transportation design, and construction observation activities depending on experience and project needs, with the majority of work focused in the northeastern region.

On any given day you may:

  • Perform bridge inspections in accordance with Wisconsin DOT and FHWA requirements.
  • Prepare bridge inspection reports, documentation, and recommendations.
  • Assist in the design of transportation engineering projects including rural and urban highways, local roads,storm sewer systems, traffic control, erosion control, and grading.
  • Assist in preparation of project specifications, design reports, cost estimates, permitting, utilitycoordination, and agency coordination.
  • Perform construction observation for sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water mains, roadway construction,asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalks.
  • Maintain project records including daily observation logs, time and material records, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project owners, contractors, project managers, testing laboratories,and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify innovative and practical engineering solutions.
Skills and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months ofemployment.
  • Experience or interest in transportation design and/or construction engineering.
  • Experience with WisDOT standards and procedures is beneficial.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is beneficial:
