The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is seeking a Laundry Supervisor, to provide first-line supervision for an institutional laundry operation. The Home is a 24/7/365 skilled nursing, long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is located on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Come lead our dedicated Dietary team!

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Custodial Services Program Supervisor, this position hires and trains staff, develops operational and work schedules, assigns work and evaluates performance, develops laundry operational reports, and assists in projecting budget needs and monitoring expenditures. In addition, the position assists in developing laundry product specifications and preparing requisitions, evaluates new laundry products with vendors, develops inventory control and record keeping systems; submits work orders for machine maintenance, and performs minor machine adjustments. The position also inventories supplies and linen and processes laundry.

Salary Information
Starting pay will be between $26.00 and $28.00 per hour ($54,080 and $58,240 per year), depending on candidate qualifications.
Laundry Services Supervisor is in pay schedule-pay range 81-05.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This position works a base schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. The position provides coverage for staff shortages.
Work is performed on site.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Required qualifications that will be reviewed in the first step of the selection process are experience:

• performing laundry tasks and using laundry machinery (e.g., sorting by fabric and color, determining detergents and solutions to use, determining temperature for washing, stain removal, loading and unloading, folding, pressing, disposing of worn items, washing machine, tumble dryer, steamer, presser/iron, automatic folder, etc.)
• following safety standards and practices (e.g., using personal protective equipment (PPE), referencing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, slip-and-fall prevention, safe lifting techniques, noise protection, ensuring machinery is secured and safety features work, chemical handling, ensuring proper operation of equipment, maintaining workplace hygiene, etc.)

Additional qualifications that will be reviewed in later steps are experience:

• leading or supervising a team *
• scheduling staff and assigning duties *
• providing customer service *
• working in a commercial laundry
• using computers to perform job duties
• managing inventory and purchasing
• paying invoices and monitoring expenditures
• following infection prevention practices
