Job description

Brand new role due to company growth! We are seeking an experienced Senior OSP Field Engineer / Surveyor to support telecom infrastructure projects throughout the New England region, with occasional travel across the United States. This role is ideal for a highly organized, self-directed professional who thrives in the field, is comfortable traveling extensively, and understands the fast-paced demands of telecom network construction.

The ideal candidate will live in the New England area within reasonable access to a major airport and possess the flexibility to travel as project needs require. A valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to drive long distances are essential.

What You Will Do

  • Perform field surveys for aerial and underground telecommunications construction projects
  • Conduct site walks and gather detailed field data for fiber optic and wireline network builds
  • Assess existing utility infrastructure, pole lines, conduits, right-of-way conditions, and route feasibility
  • Capture accurate measurements, photos, sketches, GPS data, and field notes
  • Coordinate with utility companies, municipalities, property owners, and internal construction teams
  • Identify potential construction challenges, permitting concerns, and safety issues in the field
  • Support engineering and design teams by providing detailed field documentation and constructability feedback
  • Verify as-built conditions and ensure field information aligns with project requirements
  • Travel regularly throughout New England and periodically nationwide to support project demands
  • Maintain company standards for safety, quality, and professionalism while representing the organization in the field

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of telecommunications field surveying, OSP engineering, utility locating, or telecom construction experience
  • Strong understanding of wireline telecommunications infrastructure including aerial and underground fiber networks
  • Experience with utility pole identification, route mapping, make-ready assessments, and right-of-way evaluations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, and telecom engineering drawings
  • Comfortable working independently in varied outdoor environments and weather conditions
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient with tablets, mapping software, GPS tools, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel frequently, including overnight and extended travel assignments
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
  • Ability to drive long distances and work in remote field locations as needed
  • Experience with GIS systems, Katapult, IKE devices, or similar telecom survey technologies is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely enter active construction environments and utility easements

Expected compensation includes is $60,000 to $80,000 a year and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan available for eligible employees. Compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as an individual’s education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other factors that are job-related and consistent with business need.
