Position Overview:

Wireless LAN (WLAN) Engineer performs day-to-day activities required to manage wireless services, including but not limited to implementation, management, and troubleshooting for the enterprise technical environment specifically for wireless services, to include access points, controllers, and management systems. This includes wireless surveys and comprehensive documentation for all deployed frameworks and ongoing evaluations of these networks.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, integration, testing, installation, and support of the wireless network infrastructure to include hardware and software upgrades; and prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the network infrastructure
  • Work with business units, internal customers, and client support technicians to provide solutions for customers' wireless communications requirements and solutions.
  • Investigates, designs, plans, and implements physical and logical wireless communications networks to include capacity planning for internal and external wireless connections.
  • Provides proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of network using network management software, help desk/trouble tickets, and potentially on-site or in visits requiring travel. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum 8 years of experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum 5 years experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong expertise with on-premise wireless in deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining highly available Aruba wireless infrastructure solutions in a large-scale, multisite, international environment including Wireless LAN Controllers & Guest wireless solutions.
  • Experience using Wireless Analysis Tools (such as Ekahau Survey Pro, AirMagnet Surveyor, MetaGeek Channelyzer Spectrum Analysis tools, Packet Analyzers, Cisco Prime Infrastructure).
  • Strong understanding and recent experience with current and upcoming wireless RF standards on Wi-Fi;  802.11; basic RF parameters and signal flows (frequency, power-level, modulation methods, channel widths, signal losses etc.).
  • Wireless Site Survey experience - industry best practices and criteria for standard RF survey designs including Data, Voice, and Location Based Services
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, Wireless, DNS and DHCP protocols and services.
  • Availability to provide On Call support out of normal working hours.
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving, and conceptual skills; and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert level experience with Aruba wireless.
  • Experience with Aruba Central/Central-On-Prem, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco ACS and ISE a plus.
  • Certifications that are a plus: ACDP, ACMP, MCP, CCNA, CWNA, CCNP, CCNP-Wireless, CWNP

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
