Job description

As the Wireless Systems Design Engineer, you will be the trusted advisor and technical support professional for the WESCO Global Solutions business. The Advanced Technology Support (ATS) team is the second tier of support in all our technologies. You will act as a technical advisor to the Communications and Security Solutions (CSS), Electrical and Electronic Solutions (EES)and Utility and Broadband Solutions (UBS) sales organizations. The team proactively works with all global sales representatives and supports all large, complex and global opportunities. The team also supports the Corporate Marketing, Supply Chain Solutions and Category Management groups as Subject Matter Experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish credibility with end-user customers by serving as a technical liaison throughout the sales cycle, positioning standards-based technology solutions that align with customer needs.
  • Prepare deliverables including Bills of Materials, design documentation (Visio/CAD/iBwave/JVSG), and written specifications that clearly communicate solution requirements and Wesco's value.
  • Partner with Wesco business leaders as a technical resource within assigned territories to support sales strategies, initiatives, and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Global Technical Resource Center (GTRC) and Solutions Support teams to coordinate project tasks, maintain workflow consistency, and improve turnaround time on customer deliverables.
  • Participate in advanced technical training and continued education to maintain current knowledge of system architectures and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain relevant industry credentials based on discipline, territory needs, and customer requirements.
  • Support vendor liaison activities with Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) manufacturers, identifying opportunities to position partner technologies in customer solutions.
  • Deliver technical presentations and support handson training during customer meetings, seminars, and industry events.
  • Assist with coordinating and supporting customer visits to Wesco's Corporate Lab for product evaluation and demonstrations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience
  • Relevant licenses, certifications, or designations based on technical discipline
  • Customercentric mindset with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work with design or visualization tools such as Visio, AutoCAD 2D, JVSG, or iBwave
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Work in support of regional iBwave designers as a project manager/coordinator and as a backup primary designer in Americas regions- US, CAN, LATAM.   
  • Analyze technical requirements, update trackers, prioritize projects, QC initial design (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Experience supporting technology design, implementation, or commissioning activities (preferred)
  • Familiarity with inbuilding wireless systems, DAS/LMR environments, or RFbased technologies (preferred)
  • Experience using iBwave or similar wireless design software (preferred)
  • Experience performing quality checks or reviewing technical designs (preferred)
  • Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD, OSP, NTS, DCDC, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience collaborating with crossfunctional teams across multiple time zones (preferred)

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.

For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan,subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
