Job description

Jefferson is seeking Systems Engineer to support the USAF 505th Test and Training Group.

This role will be Onsite at Hurlburt Field, Florida

This candidate will upgrade, integrate, install, configure, test, maintain, dismantle, and turn in data and video communication networks, both hardware and software. These responsibilities include understanding of the interconnectivity of wireless, fiber optics, coaxial, copper (twisted pair), broadband, and baseband.

The annual salary range for this position is $105,000.00-$120,000.00. The annual salary range is negotiable. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor, test, analyze, maintain, and operate line-of-sight, SATCOM, remote radio equipment, and various forms of radio interfacing equipment
  • Analyzes Data Link and Radio equipment utilization statistics through data collection and performance measures to ensure smooth, reliable, robust operations.
  • Maintain software licenses and warranty information
  • Ensures current Data Link and Radio Equipment is compatible with system configurations and ensures operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards
  • Troubleshoots operation of the Data Link and Radio equipment and ensures hardware and operating software are functioning properly and that operation stands are met.
  • Function tests system components to identify and resolve technical problems, analyzes system malfunctions, implements necessary corrective actions, and provides ongoing support for the resolution of problems and operating malfunctions
  • Preform system backups as required to ensure expedient restoration for the database for the respective Data Link and Radio equipment
  • Document all technical procedures and user guides
  • Ensure and maintain a 98% uptime
  • Ensure AOC systems are available 2 days prior to course execution or as directed
  • Provide Systems Platform Engineering support in the following areas:
    • Mission System Integration learn the architecture of the Falconer Weapon System. Responsible for developing and executing strategies to integrate its current and emerging technologies with the core infrastructure platform.
    • Virtual Infrastructure Management: design, deploy, and manage the enterprise virtualization environment (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Omnissa Horizon/VDI). This includes hypervisor management, VM lifecycle automation, resource optimization, and virtual network configuration.
    • Compute & OS Management: Engineer and manage base server images for both physical and virtual machines, including OS hardening, kernel tuning, and automated patching.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, manage, and version the low-level infrastructure using tools like Terraform, focusing on repeatable and secure provisioning across physical and virtual landscapes.
    • Container Orchestration: Own the foundational layers of our Kubernetes clusters, focusing on the worker nodes, Container Network Interface (CNI), Container Storage Interface (CSI), and overall cluster performance to support mission applications running on virtualized infrastructure.
    • Platform Stability: Act as the escalation point for the most complex infrastructure issues, troubleshooting problems that span from hardware and hypervisors to the application layer.
Required Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum CompTIA Security Plus certificate or equivalent.
  • Must have experience with IT concepts, practices, and procedures as certified IAW DoD 8570.01-M IAT II and industry standards.
  • Additional duties include Provide SA functions for all systems, servers, workstations, peripherals, communications devices and software which is on-line and supported
  • AOC specific experience required.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and resolving errors with Linux, Oracle SQL, and Sybase operating and database software.
  • Top Secret (TS) security clearance w/SCI eligibility.
