We are seeking a Cellular Engineer, Journeyman to support our customer in Crane, Indiana. In this role, you will support the design, integration, test, and evaluation of wireless and cellular capabilities for Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare systems, with emphasis on 3G, LTE, and 5G protocols, software-based test infrastructure, vulnerability assessment, and lab and field test execution. This role aligns to customer requirements for wireless communication protocol expertise, software engineering support, and test and evaluation activities supporting NSWC Crane’s Expeditionary EW mission. This position is ideal for an engineer who combines strong software and protocol knowledge with hands-on test experience and a mission focus. The successful candidate will help advance capabilities that improve system performance, rigor of test activities, and the Government’s ability to evaluate wireless-enabled threats and technologies in laboratory, simulation, and operationally relevant environments.

This role requires in-person support.

Duties:
  • Support the design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation of cellular and wireless communication capabilities in support of Government research, development, and test activities.
  • Develop and assess cellular protocol implementations across 3G, LTE, and 5G environments.
  • Perform software engineering activities including design, coding, integration, debugging, and maintenance using C, C++, and Python.
  • Develop, execute, and refine test plans, procedures, and protocols for laboratory, simulated, over-the-air, and field test events.
  • Support test and evaluation activities through test preparation, execution, data collection, data reduction, analysis, reporting, and briefing development.
  • Evaluate protocol behavior, vulnerabilities, quality of service characteristics, device performance, and implementation tradeoffs across wireless systems.
