Job description

Summary:

Day Wireless is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tower Assistant Manager to oversee and actively participate in the construction, maintenance, and modification of communication towers and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in the telecommunications tower industry, with demonstrated expertise in tower climbing, site visits, microwave system work, civil construction tasks, and two‑way radio systems.

We are looking for more than just an experienced tower climber- we are looking for a leader with room and desire to grow within our organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to hard work, personal development, and helping the entire team succeed. As a Crew Lead, you will be responsible for directing your crew, maintaining a safe and productive jobsite, and ensuring high‑quality workmanship while actively participating in the work.

Responsibilities: Crew Leadership and Supervision:
  • Lead and supervise a team of tower technicians and construction personnel on project sites.
  • Assign tasks, provide clear instructions, and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor team performance, provide guidance, and address any issues or concerns.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Tower Climbing and Rigging:
  • This position will require frequent climbing.
  • Perform safe and efficient climbing of communication towers of various types and heights.
  • Execute rigging tasks for the installation, removal, and modification of antennas, transmission lines, and other tower‑mounted equipment.
  • Conduct thorough pre‑climb inspections of equipment and structures.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety standards and procedures for working at heights.
Site Visits and Assessments:
  • Conduct pre‑construction site surveys to assess site conditions, identify potential challenges, and gather necessary information for project planning.
  • Perform post‑construction site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Document site conditions, measurements, and any relevant observations accurately.
Microwave System Work:
  • Assist in the installation, alignment, and testing of microwave antennas and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to microwave transmission systems.
  • Ensure proper grounding and weatherproofing of microwave installations.
Civil Construction Work:
  • Participate in various civil construction tasks related to tower sites, including foundation work, grounding systems, fence installation, and access road maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain basic construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all civil work is completed according to specifications and quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
  • Complete daily and weekly reports as required.
  • Document any site discrepancies or changes to project plans.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards on work sites.
  • Participate in safety training programs and promote a safety‑conscious culture within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Ensure assigned and crew vehicles inspection reports are completed timely.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance of climbing gear, tools, and equipment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies promptly.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in telecommunications tower construction.
  • Proven experience leading and supervising tower construction crews.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in safe tower climbing techniques and rigging procedures.
  • Experience with the installation, alignment, and troubleshooting of microwave systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with various civil construction tasks related to tower sites.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the telecommunications tower industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • OSHA 10‑hour or 30‑hour Construction Safety certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Competent Climber/Rescuer certification.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., skid steers, excavators).
  • Formal training in microwave systems or civil construction.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to climb and work at significant heights for extended periods.
