Job Summary

The Wiring Specialist 1 performs basic electrical wiring and assembly tasks associated with railroad signal bungalows, communications houses, instrument cases, and related equipment. This role works under supervision to install wiring, terminate conductors, and assist with panel and rack assembly in accordance with engineering drawings and railroad signal/communications standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install wiring in signal bungalows, instrument cases, and equipment racks following wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Terminate wires on terminals, relays, circuit boards, and electrical components.
  • Perform basic cable routing, bundling, labeling, and dressing of wiring harnesses.
  • Assist in assembly of signal equipment panels and relay racks.
  • Use basic electrical hand tools (crimpers, strippers, screwdrivers, etc.).
  • Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and assembly drawings.
  • Maintain proper wire identification, labeling, and documentation.
  • Follow company quality standards and work instructions.
  • Support shop testing activities as directed.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring principles.
