Job Title: Oil Filled Cables โ€“ Wire Processing Technician

Reports To: Production Manager

SUMMARY
The Wire Processing Technician โ€“ Entry Level position supports the production team by preparing wire used in oil filled cable process. This is an entry-level manufacturing role and no prior experience or specialized skills are required. Training will be provided.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, willing to learn new processes, and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for assisting with wire preparation activities to support production operations and ensure quality standards are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a framework of the essential duties and responsibilities for this role. Basic duties are outlined here and are not limited to this outline. Duties and responsibilities may change according to business need and other duties may be assigned.


  • Operate and program wire processing equipment, including Schleuniger machines
  • Load and set up wire materials in equipment to measure, cut and strip wire
  • Collect and organize cut wire materials
  • Verify wire lengths and accuracy according to work instructions
  • Remove insulation from designated wire ends
  • Pre-tin wires using solder pot equipment
  • Apply identification number flags using Brady labeling equipment
  • Twist wires together into twisted pairs as needed
  • Install wires into Tygon tubing as needed
  • Place completed wire preparations into designated job totes
  • Transact M1 operations
  • Follow all company quality standards, safety procedures, and production requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
  • Must be able to work a consistent schedule

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Aptitude to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10โ€™s and 100โ€™s. Ability to calculate figures and amounts.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to comfortably use computer software in Windows environment. Basic understanding of software, word-processing, spreadsheet, and related office applications.


GENERAL: Self-starter, able to work independently, able to work under pressure, comfortable with interacting with multiple levels of organization, able to work cross-functionally within organization to accomplish objectives, results oriented.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, for tooling and small electrical contacts, reach with hands and arms to place/replace products. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear the "open" timers and other equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move tooling and components weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision for assembly, color vision for quality checks, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


This position works in a production and manufacturing environment where employees may be exposed to machinery, soldering equipment, noise, and standard manufacturing materials. Appropriate safety equipment and training will be provided.
