RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client seeking a Systems Engineer I in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Summary:
This position is ideal for an early-career infrastructure professional looking to expand their experience across enterprise systems, virtualization, cloud technologies, Microsoft 365, automation, and operational support. The Systems Engineer will support critical IT infrastructure environments, assist with technology initiatives, and partner with technical teams to ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and highly available.
Responsibilities:
* Administer and support Windows Server environments
* Monitor and maintain server, virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud infrastructure
* Support VMware and Microsoft technologies across enterprise environments
* Assist with system provisioning, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and lifecycle activities
* Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID
* Participate in infrastructure projects involving cloud, virtualization, endpoint management, storage, and disaster recovery
* Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents and provide technical support for escalations
* Support vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and compliance initiatives
* Execute backup validation, recovery testing, and business continuity activities
* Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures
* Assist with automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives
* Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, database, security, service desk, and project teams
REQUIREMENTS:
* 1+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, technical operations, or a related IT role
* Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments
* Knowledge of Active Directory administration
* Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
* Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration fundamentals
* Experience with DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and core networking concepts
* Exposure to server hardware troubleshooting and infrastructure monitoring tools
* Experience supporting backup and recovery technologies
* Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation
* Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
* Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
* Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, or related technical certifications
* Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
* Experience supporting financial services or other highly regulated industries
* Microsoft Azure experience
* MECM/SCCM experience
