Window & Door Installer / Experienced Installation Technician/assistant

Pay: $20.00–$24.00+ per hour to start, based on experience and demonstrated skill + bonus opportunities

Job Summary:
Pikes Peak Windows and Doors is a locally owned window and door company serving Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced Window & Door Installer / Experienced Installation Technician/assistant to join our installation team.
We are looking for someone who already has a solid construction background, is comfortable with tools and ladders, can read a tape accurately, and knows how to work productively on a jobsite.
Window and door installation experience is strongly preferred, but we will also consider someone with solid experience in remodeling, carpentry, exterior construction or a similar trade.
This is not intended to be an entry-level construction position. We will train the right person on our products, installation methods and company standards, but we are looking for someone who already understands construction and can become a productive member of the crew fairly quickly.
Reliability, quality workmanship, a positive attitude and a good work ethic are extremely important to us.
Duties:
  • Install and/or assist with residential window and door installations
  • Remove existing windows and doors and prepare openings for installation
  • Set, level, fasten, insulate and finish window and door installations
  • If the assistant, ability to follow directions to the above
  • Cut and bend aluminum exterior trim using a brake
  • Caulk and complete interior and exterior finish work
  • Set up and safely work from ladders, including second & third-story work
  • Load and unload windows, doors, tools and job materials
  • Protect customers' homes and property while work is being completed
  • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite
  • Help maintain company trucks, trailers and tools
  • Follow OSHA requirements and company safety policies
  • Communicate professionally with customers and other crew members
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous construction or installation experience required
  • Window and door installation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with caulking, trim work and aluminum brake work is a plus
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Able to take direction and also recognize what needs to be done next
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good communication and customer-service skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 50+ pounds
  • Ability to lift and maneuver windows and doors with another crew member
  • Comfortable working from ladders and at second-story heights
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift and work on your feet throughout the day
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying Colorado weather conditions
Pay & Earning Potential:
$20.00–$24.00+ per hour based on experience and demonstrated skill level. Overtime available. Bonuses opportunities.

In addition to hourly pay, our installation crews have opportunities to earn job and production bonuses when qualifying jobs go well as well as customer service/experience with great reviews.
Starting pay will depend on the experience and skills you bring to the position. We believe actual ability matters, and employees who demonstrate additional installation skills, reliability, productivity and responsibility have opportunities to grow within the company and increase their earning potential.
New employees complete an introductory evaluation period so that we can evaluate actual installation/construction ability, workmanship, safety, reliability, productivity and overall fit for the position.
Schedule:
  • Full-time position. Hours may vary based on installation volume, weather, scheduling and seasonal business needs. While we always strive to provide a consistent full-time schedule, there may occasionally be slower periods with reduced hours.  We expect these slower periods to be minimal. 
  • Monday through Friday
  • Most workdays are approximately 8–10 hours. We make every effort to schedule around an 8-hour workday; however, some installations, travel, or jobsite conditions may require longer days. 
  • Some installations require longer days
  • Occasional weekend work as needed
  • Work is performed at customer homes and job locations throughout Colorado Springs and surrounding areas

We understand that it takes time to learn our specific products and installation methods, but we do expect new team members to bring the experience and work ethic discussed during the hiring process. Continued employment, position and compensation will be based on demonstrated ability and performance.
