Position Overview: The Pipe Welder will be responsible for welding and fitting parts per drawings, specifications and work instructions. This will include:
  • Performing Fit up & Fabrication of Pipe and flanges on specified castings per customer requirements.
  • Use Weld Procedure Specifications and Fabrication documents to produce quality welds & fabrications.
  • It is also required that the Pipe Welder perform production Upgrade Welding tasks that does not involve pipe welding or fabrication as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Certifications desired: ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1/ D1.4 for steel, AWS D1.6 for Stainless Steel, Dual Shield Certified (FCAW), Mig (GMAW) & Tig (GTAW)
  • Must have the ability to weld steel & stainless-steel pipe in the 6G position with an open root groove.
  • Ability to work with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must pass 10 practical welding tests
    - Pre-Hire Welding Test=1ea
    -Certified Welder Tests=7ea
    -Upgrade welder technical test=1ea
    -Pipe Welder Test=1ea
Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years proven experience in welding and fabrication with steel and stainless-steel utilizing GMAW, SMAW, GTAW and SAW processes
  • Prefer previous experience in aluminum welding with GTAW and GMAW
  • Previous experience with Air Carbon Arc gouging process preferred
  • Ability to do window closure through wall repairs on Radiography (RE) grade examination castings
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Must be able to read Welder Specification Procedures (WPS), Fabrication documents, and interpret work instructions.
  • Ability to weld in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 6G positions
  • Must be able to document work on daily Labor Tickets.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
  • Must have the ability to change between sitting, standing, and kneeling positions
  • Must have the ability to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders or work at heights periodically
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry 65 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds continuously
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the work shift
  • Must have good vision and depth perception
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Must be able to withstand hot temperatures
  • Must be able to wear required respirators

Pay Range: $23.31-35.50/hour
Shift:
2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:30PM to 11:00PM
