Window Sales


Allegheny Millwork & Lumber, located in the South Side of Pittsburgh, is an industry-leading lumberyard with a window and door division that focuses on the sale of three premium window lines: Marvin Windows and Doors, Kolbe Windows and JELD-WEN Windows.

The ideal candidate for this position must be familiar with general construction practices as it pertains to framing and window installation. Must be able to read and understand construction plans and have some field experience with either framing or window installation and/or a Construction Management degree. Knowledge in Window/Glazing Industry a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop new accounts. The position will require travel throughout the Pittsburgh region to call on builders, remodelers and architects and to build a solid customer base with assistance from the Sales Manager.
  • Analyze architectural drawings, make material take-offs, obtain quotes from suppliers, and interpret specifications.
  • Provide detailed proposals and an accurate bid package.
  • Take direction from various staff members.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents.
  • Possess strong computer skills using excel spreadsheets and formulas.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and customers.
  • Perform job cost analysis and assist in preparing projections.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge on all products offered.
  • Assist in setting up files and databases for new projects and prepare master quotes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Sales Manager.
  • Assist in maintenance, general cleaning and upkeep of displays and display area.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in construction management.
  • Proven ability to read architectural blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Proven ability to extract all key data elements from contracts, and to establish processes and systems to ensure compliance with all contractual terms.
  • Assist in managing all aspects of workflow and understand project specs, construction documents, and perform complete window and door take-offs.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong software experience, with preference for working knowledge of Outlook, Proficient in MS Office (Especially Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat PDF Documents.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines
  • Provide excellent customer service and develop vendor relationships

Salary: Base salary combined with a commission plan.
