Job description

Part of Envelop Group, PSG Energy Group makes it easy for customers to explore and implement energy savings and sustainability measures. We take a comprehensive look at our customers' energy usage to identify savings and renewable solution opportunities. We manage the entire process from concept, procurement, and installation, and provide ongoing O&M support.

As a Solar Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of solar construction projects. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and team members, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specified quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of each phase of the construction process, including; preconstruction planning, sub-contractor review, budgeting/estimating, scheduling, site development, design, and all aspects of project execution.

This role is based out of our Indianapolis office and requires flexibility to travel throughout Indiana and Illinois as needed to manage projects on-site.

What you'll do:

  • Manage multiple commercial solar and storage projects from kick-off to close-out; on time, on budget, meeting company quality standards.
  • Create project schedules and oversee labor, materials, and vendors across active job sites.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate plan sets, permitting, inspections, and procurement.
  • Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders including customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead weekly internal and customer-facing project meetings. Prepare and deliver presentations on project status and outcomes.
  • Oversee project handoffs between departments (sales, operations, customer success).
  • Prepare and manage interconnection documents, purchase orders, and contract agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, engineering standards, and all permitting agencies.
  • Lead estimating and pre-sales efforts as needed, collaborating with the sales team.
  • Track project financials, support billing, and ensure timely invoicing and collections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, renewable energy, engineering, project management, or environmental science or equivalent technical degree/experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in large scale commercial construction, electrical construction, or solar project management.
  • Knowledge of solar PV systems, battery storage, design/build methods, and project lifecycle.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and budgets with precision.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection and permitting processes.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; follow up, follow through, and over-communicate when needed.
  • Tech-savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office, project management software, and solar monitoring platforms.
  • Self-starter with a team mindset, ready to contribute to a hands-on, entrepreneurial culture.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a combination of an office environment which, requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards; and on job sites, which requires the ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
