Position Overview:

The Flat Glass Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the precise installation of residential and commercial flat glass, including windows, mirrors, shower doors, storefronts, and more. Youโ€™ll also have the opportunity to contribute to business growth by identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precisely measure and install glass, mirrors, doors, custom shower surrounds, and window hardware (including balances) for both new and replacement projects.
  • Ensure the efficient use of materials and maintain a well-stocked service vehicle with all necessary tools and marketing collateral.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment to ensure they are serviced, clean, and in good working condition.
  • Communicate with team members throughout the day to ensure high levels of customer service and coordination of efforts.
  • Support sales efforts by recommending additional products and services to customers.
  • Apply field measuring techniques and accurately cut glass and mirrors to specified dimensions.
  • Complete required forms using tablet and customer relationship management software (Service Titan or similar), including measures, estimates, and job tracking. 
  • Conduct site survey during initial customer visit to assess business efficacy of each job.
  • Take on other responsibilities as needed, including cross-training in related roles.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ experience in glass measurement and installation required,, including the ability to cut glass.
  • Experience in carpentry, construction, handyman services, or similar fields may be acceptable in place of glass-specific experience.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license.
  • Ability to measure dimensions and thickness accurately and use tools like tape measure, glass thickness meter, and laser level.
  • Comfortable working with ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment for glass installation.
  • No fear of heights when using ladders or lifts.
  • Proficient in using tablet-based technology.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service-focused attitude.
  • Ability to safely transport service vehicles between job sites.
  • Team player who wears uniform and treats customers, property, and other team members with respect.
