Job description

HomeStory Doors is hiring a full-time Measure Tech / Installer to serve homeowners throughout the Chicagoland area.

This is a hands-on field role for someone who knows doors, understands finish work, and takes pride in getting the details right the first time.

Our ideal candidate will accurately measure door openings, identify installation issues before they become problems, and professionally install doors with clean, high-quality workmanship.

This is not a measuring-only role. You will be responsible for both the front-end field measurements and the finished installation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Measure customer door openings accurately using laser tools, tape measure, tablet, and company systems.
  • Inspect existing frames, jambs, trim, hinges, hardware, floor transitions, clearances, and jobsite conditions.
  • Identify potential installation issues before production or installation begins.
  • Install doors professionally, including removal of existing doors, fitting, hanging, adjusting, trim carpentry, and final completion.
  • Document measurements, photos, notes, and jobsite details clearly and accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and the internal team.
  • Protect the customer experience by doing clean, accurate, dependable work.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of relevant field experience.
  • Door installation experience is required.
  • Trim carpentry experience is required.
  • Strong measuring skills and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with residential doors, frames, jambs, casing, hinges, hardware, and installation conditions.
  • Comfortable using tablets, taking photos, digital documentation, laser tools, and tape measures.
  • Ability to work independently in customer homes.
  • Professional communication and strong customer presence.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland area.

You May Be a Strong Fit If You’ve Worked As A:

  • Door Installer
  • Finish Carpenter
  • Trim Carpenter
  • Field Measure Technician
  • Installation Technician
  • Window Installer
  • Remodeling Technician
  • Construction Lead
  • Home Improvement Technician
  • Millwork Installer

Why This Role Matters:

Bad measurements create bad installations. Poor installation creates unhappy customers.

This role prevents both.

A great Measure Tech / Installer catches the details early, installs with precision, and makes sure every project is completed with the level of workmanship homeowners expect.

Tools Provided:

  • Tablet or iPad
  • Laser measuring tools
  • Company software and documentation tools
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement

Schedule:

Full-time
Monday through Friday preferred
Some evening or Saturday appointments may be required based on customer scheduling needs

$30-$40 per hour commensurate with experience.
