Job description

  • Remain on-call for sick or scheduled vacation of Full-Time Dispatchers. This will be at the determination of the Director of Communications, Director of Operations, or Chief of Security.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for help and information.
  • Field calls via phone, radio, walk-up window, and email.
  • Operate radio communication system to dispatch officers, disseminate information and communicate with officers during calls.
  • Operate surveillance system to monitor Lipscomb facilities and properties, as well as review footage during investigations.
  • Operate various dispatch computer software to log calls, generate reports, create IDs, issue parking permits, etc.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and agencies, such as security monitoring providers, local emergency response agencies, and local utility providers.
  • Assist with parking request facilitation, as needed, in coordination with Parking Division.
  • Engage in development of dispatch procedures, protocols, and training in coordination with Director of Communications, Director of Operations, and Director of Security.
  • Engage in implementing communications technology and protocols and providing training to personnel when appropriate.
  • Work with appropriate parties to develop, enhance, and maximize video surveillance systems.
  • Engage in understanding, development, and training for specialized programs, such as field training officers, special units, and community outreach.
  • Actively participate in accreditation processes, as tasked by Director of Communications, Director of Operations, and/or Director of Security.
  • Assist in onboarding and training of personnel, in coordination with Director of Communications and Director of Operations.
  • Present in-person training for in-service and similar (when appropriate).
  • Assist with reporting (as needed).
  • Must excel in fast-paced setting.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Attend on-on-one meetings with Director of Communications as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as appropriate.
  • Engage in additional duties as necessary.
