JOB DESCRIPTION

Occupational Therapist 

2026-27 school year, .6 FTE
QUALIFICATIONS:  Current Illinois Licensure as an Occupational Therapist
REPORTS TO:          Director of Student Services and Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:





  1. Assessment
    1. Demonstrates knowledge of formal and informal assessment procedures
    2. Selects appropriate assessment instruments
    3. Conducts assessments appropriately
    4. Interprets assessment information accurately
    5. Demonstrates knowledge of the screening referral evaluation process
    6. Conducts ongoing assessment of instructional/therapeutic goals
  2. Provision of Instruction/Therapy/Counseling
    1. Demonstrates an understanding of the content area
    2. Defines and/or revises specific and sequential goals and objectives appropriate for student, based assessment
    3. Develops long range plan according to instructional/therapeutic sequence
    4. Demonstrates daily preparation to achieve IEP goals and objectives
    5. Select, prepares, and/or adapts materials to meet individual student's needs
  3. Communication Techniques
    1. Communicates in an effective, constructive, and positive manner with students and parents
    2. Interacts positively and effectively with school personnel, including supervisors, administrators, teachers, auxiliary staff, building secretaries, etc., as an effective team member
    3. Promotes positive public relations
  4. Management Tasks
    1. Facilitates, coordinates, and/or schedules for teacher/therapist, classroom paraprofessionals, student, district personnel
    2. Manages and coordinates require meetings/conferences
    3. Manages and coordinates required paperwork
    4. Trains, supervises, and evaluates paraprofessionals (when applicable)
    5. Completes, monitors, and/or forwards pupil data as required
  5. Professionalism
    1. Follows policies and procedures of WCSD
    2. Demonstrates professionalism while setting examples for students
    3. Demonstrates continual assessment of personal and program effectiveness, responds effectively to feedback
    4. Actively participates in the evaluation process
    5. Demonstrates flexibility and is adaptable to change
    6. Uses judgment appropriately
    7. Conducts self in appropriate and ethical manner
    8. Treats others with respect and dignity
    9. Participates in professional growth activities
    10. Maintains a safe work area
    11. Dresses appropriately
  6. Communication Skills
    1. Performs as an integral member of the educational team

SALARY: starting at $46/hour, depending on experience
